My Sound on Windows 7 Isn't Working.

So, I realized this morning I was playing a game, and didn't have any sound. I tried clicking the volume button, I clicked the slider, and you know how you hear that DING! when you click it? I didn't hear it. I didn't see any green or grey on the bar. I tried playing some music on Spotify (love it!) and it didn't work. Actually I tried playing a YouTube video it was buffering and when it was done I hit the play button and it didn't play. Guess what happened in Spotify? The same thing! The music wouldn't play. I tried the Playing Audio troubleshooter but that didn't want to load. I first noticed this problem this morning. It wasn't happening yesterday. I have had no sound problems on this computer before. Ok now as I'm writing this sentence, the Playing Audio troubleshooter finally wants to load. Now Windows is being a jerk and taking forever with the "Checking audio service status..." thing. Windows, stop wasting my time. You've never wasted my time before. I'll get back to you guys later if this Playing Audio troubleshooter is ever gonna do it's thing.

So half of that paragraph could be summarized as "sound doesnt work". If Windows cant play sound, why would Youtube?

Check to see if your audio settings are as they should be, it might have reverted to HDMI so its pushing audio through to your monitor rather than integrated/dedicated card. Plug in a set of speakers that you know work, or plug your existing ones into a source you know works to test if anything is broken.

Well, I normally use a pair of earbuds (the problem certainly can't be them, I just got them like 10 or 11 days ago.) and I'm using them right now. If I unplug them, wait one second let me test it...ok my sound works now BUT YouTube will buffer videos but it won't play them....the sound works with and without earbuds.

"through your monitor rather than integrated/dedicated card" keep in mind I'm not using a desktop, I'm using a laptop so everything is inside of the computer, instead of some things in different places like a desktop. Though I am using a 2nd monitor, an HP S2031 20" 1600x900 LCD Monitor, that most likely doesn't have to do with the problem. The screen(s) and sound stuff have pretty much nothing to do with each other.

Everything is ok now except the youtube videos.

No I don't think it's soind in youtube I think it's the videos in youtube. They buffer but don't play. that's why they don't give sound so it's not sound related.

Great now Spotify doesn't want to play music and YouTube doesn't either...omg windows stop being a jerk. It ca't be the programs most likely. And when I click the volume slider I dont hear the DING..I unplugged my earbuds, still doesn't work...plugged them back in...same thing...didn't work...

Windows, stop being a jerk.

Btw, Windows has been being a jerk for like the past week but this sound problem has only been going on since yesterday...O_O really windows?

Windows has been being a jerk for everybody since April Fools day and computers dont usually play April Fools tricks...

I never said this but..

It can't push audio through my monitor, the HP S2031. it does not have built in speakers, nor does it have HDMI, displayport, optical audio, 3.5mm headphone connector.

It only has VGA and DVI-D. So it's not going through the monitor.
