I would like to install SSD into my MacBook late 2008 unibody. Currently my system has Samsung 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 RAM. My daily work includes working with Matlab, IntelliJ IDEA and Xcode (Development work).

My budget for SSD is £150 maximum.

Based on research I am interested in Samsung 840 Evo Series 250GB MZ-7TE250BW and Samsung 840 Pro Series 256GB MZ-7PD256BW.

I read that Evo is newer but has some kind of cache so it performance is not consistant.

Can some one please advise me which SSD is better.

The main difference between the 840 Pro and EVO is the type of flash used (TLC vs MLC respectively), with the Pro having the "tougher" flash that can withstand more write/delete cycles.
However in normal usage, it really shouldn't make much of a difference. The lifespan of modern SSD's under normal usage is long beyond their own obsolescence, the only time I would recommend an 840 Pro is if it was being used as a scratch disk, where data is constantly being written and re-written. For a relatively static set of data (an OS, programs and files) it should last beyond the point where you would replace it.
