The hard drive may have failed so you should test it to confirm. Download the Hitach DFT CD Image from here:
https://www2.hgst.com/hdd/support/download.htm#DFT
Now install IMGBURN on any working PC and use that to create a CD from the CD Image:
http://www.filehippo.com/download_imgburn
Then boot your faulty laptop from that CD to test it's hard drive.
If it has failed, and you didn't make a set of recovery discs before it failed, you will have to contact Acer and ask them if they can supply a set for your model (and of course you'll need to buy a new hard drive).
