does performance margin from system ram (1600 vs 2133) increase with resolution (1080 vs 2560x1440)?

I have been trying to find many benchmarks which compared memory speed and they all showed about a 2-3% gain from higher speeds which is not all that much. The problem is all these tests were done on 1080p setups.
With the large vram buffers on graphics cards(r9 290x) nowadays, would it even take significantly more/faster system memory to maintain the same fps at a higher resolution while using a discrete card?
If anyone could chime in or link a benchmark for rams set at higher resolutions i would appreciate it.

If you are using a discrete video card your system RAM speed has little to nothing to do with the VRAM speed or your frame rate in most cases.

When using on board video though, then yes faster System RAM does help increase speeds like you describe, but since on board is generally terribly slow it's still far better just to get a discrete video card than spend a bunch of crazy fast RAM.

Solution
increasing ram speed would have zero impact on what screen rez you can run(other than ingame fps), it would be the amount of ram that would tell you what screen size is available.
if your system ram is used by your onboard gpu, as video ram you could easily run an 8k display, as long as you have enough memory.
it would be useless for gaming but perfectly fine for watching ultra hd movies.
