New PSU, nothing happens

First, I already made a thread but it seems that didn't get posted, if it did, I apologise.

I bought a new PSU, XFX Pro 750W and with that, my PC won't start. Not even any of the fans, nor the blue light of the power button come on. I took it back out and put my old one back in, and it's working again. So the components are still fine.

The difference between the PSUs, new one is only semi modular and I used the integrated 20 pin ATX power connector and one of the two integrated PCIE connectors to my GPU, the other CPI my GPU needs I did not use the other integrated PCI connector but one of the modular ones. I don't think this is an issue.

The other difference is the XFX has 2x3 power connectors for IDE and peripherals whereas my old one had those 1x5 ones. Don't know what they are called. I mean I switched out all the relevant 1x5 with 2x3 and that does not seem to work. Does the type of connector make a difference to my setup?

Can I test the new PSU if it is faulty or not?

Thanks for any help.

there is a way to test it, and it is the same method used to test a watercooling loop for leaks. you have to hardwire the psu and at least it hooked up to a fan.

1. unless you are on a SUPER old platform, the cpu should be using a 24pin, not a 20 pin. then don't forget about connecting one of the 8 pins up to your cpu,

my guess is that something has been hooked up incorrectly
