Hello. I have a Gateway NV53A and ever since I installed a fresh windows 7 on it( well like a couple days after) my computer either freezes or it will go to a blackish/ grey screen, but the computer is still running. I really hope it isn't the graphics card.

That is a laptop ( I have an NV57H ). I had that problem with my Mom's Gateway Lappy. It was freezing after getting to the Desktop. It was also running Vista. It was 32 bit so went to the full 4 Gb of Memory and went in a shut a lot of unecessary stuff down at startup. That helped. Windows 7 isn't that resource hungry and shouldn't be having a problem with it. There is no Graphics card in there. It is a chipset that is on the Motherboard and you can't change it. If it goes, you need to change out the motherboard. I don't think that is your issue. You could try a new installation or maybe repair.

Hi there,
Have a look on task manager is the CPU struggling before it crashes?
Also check your temperatures of your graphics card and cpu, post them and ill see if that's causing the system to overheat after a while.
Also what PSU are you using?
