When playing any game I get random GPU usage drops, which in effect cause FPS drops making the game unplayable.

These are my specs:
Sapphire 7950 Vapor-X
Asus M5A97 LE Rev 2.0
AMD FX 8320
Seagate 2TB Hybrid Drive (Main Drive)
1TB HDD (Secondary Drive where I keep all my games)
Corsair CX600M Power Supply

More about : low gpu usage causing low fps

your specs seem to be fine so i don't think its a bottleneck....what games are you experiencing this with?

Basically any games that are somewhat resource hungry.
Chivalry Medieval Warfare
Battlefield 3
Skyrim
Crysis 2
Borderlands 2 and so on.

Check your temps, your case's air flow set-up, the cpu usage, the ram usage(how much btw?), and finally what graphics settings are you using? because it is entirely possible that on lower settings the shading could be routed the the CPU etc.

I have the same issues on the same games with my 8350/R9 290. Drops from a steady 60-80 in games to even under 40fps. GPU just isn't being used...

Everyone I've seen with this issue has an FX 8-core... is there a fix?
