So I just got ASUS GTX 760 and I can see that I'm not not getting the framerates I should be getting. In games like Crysis, I get strange lag when I'm in a battle. I am looking for soloutions! Should I get a new CPU (AMD AM3+)? Also I heard that if you crank up the resolution, it puts more pressure on the GPU and takes less off the CPU. Or maybe I could just pipe down the resoloutins in game and maybe that would help? Leave all of your suggestions and I would like the cheapest possible solution's if possible! Thanks!

How much FPS are you getting in general?

And about the actual topic:

The FX will indeed cause a bottleneck. In order to minimize it: buy an aftermarket cooler (hyper 212 evo) and try to OC the FX to an acceptable speed. It should counter...

Sorry I didn't include them straight away! My finger slipped when I was writing and I accidentally published it but I've updated it now! Thanks!

I also Have an ASUS GTX 760 and mainly played battlefield 4. I have all the settings maxed out and resolution set at 100%. If I crank up the resolution any higher then my frame rates drop drastically and gameplay gets choppy. I don't think cranking up the resolution would help any, only maybe lowering it. Both games are CPU intensive games. I have a 500watt psu and a i5-4670k. have you tried increasing your processor speed? I slightly over clocked mine and got better gameplay out of it

Something crucial I forgot to mention is that I don't game at 1080p, I game at 1440 x 900

I agree with BnG. Bump up your speed and see if that helps. Your resolution is not the problem..your settings should provide better frame rates than at a higher level.

On Crysis about 20 to 60 but can go lower never happens much though, In Skyrim with everything maxed out no AA 120 to 55 which is decent and In GTA 4 40 to 90. I should point out that in crysis i have the settings turned up to high and in gta 4 everything maxed out apart from AA, view distance, car density and detail distance. Also, my drivers are definitely up to date as I got it today and made sure I had all the drivers

Would my PSU be able to handle it though?

Mine does. I have has no issues over clocking to 4.6ghz. I would bring yours up to 4.2ghz and test gameplay

Corsair is a pretty reliable brand. 500w is the minimum recommended for a gtx 760, but that is the "worst case scenario". 500w will be fine for a 760 + decent OC ;).

Good luck!
