why 2x4 Gb instead of 1x8? this leaves room for a future upgrade...
It will run in dual channel and currently for gaming 8GB is enough but you could go for 2 x 8 matched set and you will not have to worry about future upgrades or ram compatibility when the time comes.
thanks, I'll do that. I have a old 2.5" sata drive with all my file and Windows 7 on it, could I just hook it up to the new rig and have everything work right?
Delete all system drivers on it and install the new ones for the new system and then you will have to re activate windows.
delete and install the drivers on the mobo or the HDD?
Do you know of a good instructional resource for this, or a proper search query term for this process
thanks for your help
Normally recommended is to do a clean install. If you move a drive between two systems windows does not start up because all the system/hardware drivers are for the old system. So all the old system drivers from the old hardware on the HDD.
hmm.... i don't know if I have the windows 7 CD still, I'll rummage around and see if I can find it so I don't have to buy a new OS
