my rig:
Intel i7 3770k ivy bridge 3.5ghzz
asrock z77 extreme 9
seasonic 1000watt plat
msi twinfrozr n680gtx 4gd5/oc
gigabyte gv-n680oc-4gd
wd black 2tb
adata sx900 128gb
corsair h80i

while attempting to set up sli on my computer, I have been unable to even open the Nvidia control panel. I am currently running Geforce 335.23 driver.
I have tried: installing a previous driver, clean install of current driver (nvidia files removed from pc), disabling/uninstalling programs that are suspected of interfering (Virtu mvp, firewalls (windows and bitdefender)).

If you got anything else I could try to get this working it would be greatly appreciated

Solution
So you're still having a problem? Have you checked your Device Manager > Display Adapters to confirm what graphics your PC is using?

You need to:
1) Make sure your on-board motherboard graphics is disabled.
2) Completely uninstall, then reinstall the latest Nvidia drivers using the clean install option.

I know you've tried these suggestions, but try it again and this time use Display Driver Uninstaller:

Wow never even noticed there was a right-click option, tried from search programs, control panel and right-click options nothing seems to open it.

Tried this, still no luck with it. Even thought to run ccleaner before installing again but the nvidia control panel still wont open.

I would like to avoid formatting my C: drive if at all possible, if this helps at all. here is a list of nvidia processes running:
nviplui.exe (but i don't see it)
nvxdsync.exe
nvstreamsvc.eve
nvtray.eve
nvvsvc.exe
nvbackend.exe *32
nvvsvc.exe
nvstreamsvc.exe
nvnetworkservice.exe *32

wrote it twice because its there twice

I feel quite stupid now, I managed to get it open, I completely removed Intel Graphics when i forgot to switch to Nvidia which allowed me to open the Nvidia Control Panel.

I know I had it disabled but never took to uninstalling it. Thank you for your help 17seconds, really impressed at how fast you got back to me.

I have the same problem with nvidia control panel on my laptop, and i found the solutions in about 3-4 days after, find out it was my registry fucked up and i don't know how that happen and i found the solution, but i don't know if it's work with ur rig:

-Try to uninstall ur driver with Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) with safe mode.
-After DDU finish and restarting ur computer, install ur gpu driver.(If the installation failed, try in safe mode)
-Download and install Wise Care 365, do the following option on the apps tabs, most importantly ur registry, defrag and clean it.(Ignore the
PRO versions)
-After restart your nvidia control panel would work with no problem.

Some problem are the same but different solutions.

My simple solution: I had my monitor connected to the wrong port. I had to purchase a VGA to DVI-I adapter, and everything runs perfectly now. I can now open my Nvidia Control Panel, as I was previously not utilizing it. Just in case that helps someone in the future. Luckily I didn't have to go through all the other hoops.

I found that this along with some other "search" items in windows 10 do not respond to click events from the Start menu, right or left click even though it shows the green nvidia icon along with "Nvidia Control Panel" in the Start menu search results (and not under web results or anything like that, it is a program listing for sure). I think this is a windows 10 bug that has yet to be fixed.

I found however that if I go to control panel from the Start menu I can open the nvidia control panel no problem.

Same goes for when I click Start /Windows logo and then type "uninstall" it brings up "Add Remove Programs" but isn't clickable, again I have to go to the control panel from the Start menu and then I can access the system program install/uninstall dialog.

Again, this occurs for many search terms where the search results show the correct result of what I typed but clicking does nothing. I have to manually go find it in explorer and then click to open the item.

Seems Microsoft still has some kinks to work out.

Just figured out how to fix this on my PC.

ISSUE - NVidia control panel is running as a process, but I cannot open it via right click method on desktop, nor by directly running the EXE. All that happens is that you get a spinning hourglass for a few seconds then it disappears. The Nvidia Control Panel will not open, but you can clearly see in Task Manager that another process opens with same name.

RESEARCH - Did almost everything on these pages. Clean install, AV set to allow EXE to run. I noticed people stating to remove the OnBoard Intel card. Well that was a last gasp method I didn't want to tackle quite yet, so I thought about why that would impact the Nvidia Control Panel. I hypothesized that it was the VirtuMVP software that come with many of the new boards with onboard GPU's.

STEPS TAKEN
- Clean reboot
- System Tray - Open VirtuMVP control panel
- on 'Main' tab that it starts with I simply clicked the 'On' button on the GPU Virtualization to turn it off
- Right-clicked desktop and selected Nvidia Virtual Control Panel and it opened.
- Retested this multiple time on clean reboots and it worked every time, on two different PC's.
- UPDATE - Also confirmed that after opening the Nvidia Control Panel and closing it that I could open and close as much as I wanted .. until I turned VirtuMVP GPU Virtualization back on, and it immediately prevented Nvidia Control Panel from opening again. That pretty much sealed the deal on this as a fix for me.

Hopefully this will work for you. If it doesn't, I am truly sorry as I felt your pain. Hopefully Nvidia or the VirtuMVP people will see this and create a fix.

Task manager > Services > Open Services (link on the bottom)

make sure that the Nvidia services are set to Automatic and not stopped. For that click on the Nvidia services and then set it to Automatic. Make sure u do the same thing for all the Nvidia services.

Thanks,

Pardeep.

Hi, I experianced the same problem when I tryed to install an older driver verision.

I tryed all the above with no help.

What you nead is: Nvidia driver remover. An app that removes all trace of the current driver and all it´s config files. When done simply install the version of driver you want. It will now work no nead to do any of the above
