So I have the following build and It will not boot.

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor (£77.99 @ Aria PC)
Motherboard: Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard (£53.95 @ CCL Computers)
Memory: Kingston 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£58.68 @ Amazon UK)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£43.14 @ CCL Computers)
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon R9 270 2GB Video Card (£128.71 @ CCL Computers)
Case: Zalman Z11 Plus
Power Supply: XFX 450W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply

I have a green power light on my motherboard, and my front panel power leds are on but when I press the power button nothing happens, no fans spin - nothing.

Im wondering if it could be because my power supply is not sufficent. Looking at my graphics card, it has 2 6 pin power slots that should need 4 molex connectors but I only have 3 molex in total.

I could apparently use 2 of these "PCI-E" cables but again my power supply only has one. Please, I need as much advice as I can get and I can provide pictures if neccessary thank you.

More about : system wont boot appreciated

Yeah, you need a bigger psu. At Least 500-550 watts

And you think this is why the system wont boot? Im starting to feel rather unlucky, getting all sorts of paranoid thoughts that I might have damaged things because it doesnt start up. Thank you

Yes. What happens is the PSU uses all power available to boot. Since The minimum is 500 watts, you will need more. Since you have only 450 watts, only the mobo receives power, and the hdd. I'm not saying the mobo needs 450 watts, but it realises that is it trys to boot with little power, it will get damaged.

I see, thanks for explaining that. I have a final question for you hopefully you wont mind.

Ive seen similiar power supplies with higher wattage with similiar if not the same amounts of cables I have now. Ive got a few case fans with molex connectors unaccounted for including not enough connectors for the graphics card. Will I be needing 2 of those PCI-E cables for my graphics card and lots of molex connectors?: How can I achieve this? Because ive seen a couple 600w psu with the same connectors.

I'm pretty sure you'll only need one PCI-E cable although I'm not that sure.
