I finally got my rig put together, swapped out my 750w from my old rig and it fired up no problem. The only thing is I have no experience with fully modular cables so I'm concerned I maybe I did something wrong. Plugged everything in, flipped the switch and hit the power button.

What other kinds of tips or tricks can I try before RMAing it back to newegg since I just found out the PSU I bought is now on back order and I've got my old rig sitting here with no PSU if there's anything I can try to get it to work in my old machine.

mostly i dont bother testing it i just send it back, but it is always a good idea try to isolate the problem by removing hardware one by one until you have the bare minimum check the fan of the psu listen to the noises and try to find out if this is a common problem with that power supply after you are sure its the problem send it back

I just dropped it in my old machine and it fired up. I'm starting to think either it was a bad SATA cable or I forgot to plugin the smaller ATX PSU cord into the PSU.

your probable right try disconnect all of the psu cables and attaching them ine by one. Ps unless you have 2 psu's its useless to have a fully modular psu unless you have OCD

That V1000 is a top tier PSU made by SEASONIC , I would think the problem is elsewhere.
