Display and GPU?

Hey all,
What do you think about getting an AMD R7 250 and a good Asus or BenQ screen?
I use my PC for Photography, so I do not need a really good top of the line GPU.
Photoshop, Lightroom, and light video editing.
I'm about the poorest kid I know, so I need to stay under $130 for the GPU.
(probably because I save for important things like a car and school)
Do you think that is a good idea?
If I spend a lot on a GPU I will be stuck with my 16in Acer Screen.

Intel E8400 3.00 GHz with 6MB of cache.

Asus P5N-D MOB.

8GB of Kingston RAM with heat sinks.

Samsung EVO 840 SSD.

WD 500GB HDD.

WD 80GB HDD

HAF 912 case (Tons of cooling)

PSU to come.....

Windows 7 64-Bit

You can save more and go with the R7 240 and your rig will run on a modern 300watt PSU and still be able to handle all your photo apps. To me the monitor is the necessary upgrade.

I would like to get a bigger screen. It is hard to view photos on such a small display.

if you are not gaming on that system you could even go with a gt640 gpu it would still get the job done, some gt640 have 2gb of vram and will output high resolution image

Best upgrade I ever did was going from a 17" 1280x1024 LCD to 22" 1680x1050 the visual experience was mind boggling, now I am on 1080P which I consider std today.

forget about the gt640 the prices are way high, go with a r7 240 as rolli said its the best for the price..

Well, I looked at the GT 640, but the R7 seems to be better.
The R7 240 is too low end. I already have a cheap card similar.
I want a card with bigger VRAM, so I thought the R7 250 would be good.
The 1GB ver. of the R7 250 is better then the 240 and the 2GB ver. is way better.
I do not like the R7 240. I'm doing the upgraded because I have a NX8600GT.

Well that is up to you but really those cards are hardly powerful enough to use more than 1 GB of Vram but the R7 250 is fine. All of them are massive upgrades from the old 8600GT.

I looked at the Gt 640, but the R7 250 seems to pass it up by a couple 100 points every time. (Benchmarks)

The R7 250 seems to be compete well with the GTX 650.

yes i said already i thought the 640 was cheaper the prices are too high, you should pick a 2gb r7 240 or 250 wichever you prefer...

I'm not sure where you are located, but the GT 640's prices are pretty good right now. (Around $90.)
The R7 250 is the same price.

I'm not going to get another display. My display has a better response time ETC then the $100 screens.
