Subwoofer not Working in Windows 8

Alright so I just built a new PC and I am using the integrated 7.1 surround output ports on my Asus Z87. Up until now, the subwoofer's been working just fine. The subwoofer is plugged in, it does work (just not with the computer) and if I click "test" the subwoofer does produce a test sound. However, when I go to Media Player or Youtube, nothing comes out of the subwoofer. The volume on the subwoofer is up to max, so I know it's not a volume issue. Does anyone know what's going on?

reinstall the drivers and audio control panel. or just go into audio control panel and make sure everything is setup correctly.

I tried that and although the realtek hd audio thing finally installed (it wasn't there before) the problem has not been resolved. The side speakers don't work either. Sorry for choosing that as the best solution, it worked until I paused the video.
