Choosing between two GTX 760's?

Solution

I disagree. the performance increase will be minimal a few % imo is hardly worth $50, also i like the induction exhaust fan because it shoots the heat straight out. I'd say at that point just drop another 20-30 and get the 770

Hands down I'd go for the MSI. The Zotac is using a reference cooler, and under any kind of load, its gonna get loud. Don't get me wrong, Zotac makes a good performing card, but in this instance, it just not going to be on par with the MSI's higher clock speeds, much better cooling solution and ultimately quieter gpu.

I definitely see what you are saying, thanks, but will the Zotac get much hotter? My rig already sounds like a jet, but it's in a place where it doesn't bother me, so I doubt that'd make a big difference in my situation :kikou:

Good points about the small performance increase and induction cooler, but, OP's pc is already loud because the fans are all running 100% probably soany excess heat from a case exhausted gpu will be a moot point. Also, this sounds like an upgrade,so its entirely possible that the old gpu running its little heart out to keep up with OP's games is the cause of quite a substantial amount of the 'jet' volume, and a better cooling card than the reference cooler style would solve some of that. Just don't know for sure, but good guesses, I guess. :D

Apologies, should have been more clear. I'm actually only upgrading from a rather bad 7850 card I bought. The "jet" volume I mentioned is coming from a couple of old case fans I salvaged from a dead computer and keep spinning at around 70%. They move a lot of air but just aren't as quiet as newer fans xD.

That, and I figured buying cheaper components whose negative reviews only mentioned it being too loud was better than buying cheap components that reviewers said were unreliable. Call me frugal lol :)

Thanks for the discussion everyone, gave me something to think about. Chose Malaki's answer because he gave me an idea about the cooling differences & performance differences.
