People this is NOT a printer problem or problem with the ink cartridge. I had this happen a couple of months ago and now it is happening again. I even bought a new printer and the same thing happened so I knew then that it wasn't even my printer!!!!! Somewhere I found someone who told me that it is because of some update that the computer did and the only thing to do was wait - I waited and in a couple of weeks it came back - it is however happening again and it is because I think I updated my Iphone through ITunes - it loused up a bunch of things on my computer and it is now not printing in black again - it is infuriating and frustrating - does anyone know something to speed up the process of getting it back to printing in black - I'm sick of this!

Weird indeed. My next step would be to uninstall the printer driver, then re-install it.
If that fixes it, I than suggest you turn off Windows Automatic Updates, something I have always done ever since the feature was introduced, and I continue with that policy today in Windows 7. Just use Windows Update manually when you need to.
Provided you have a well-respected firewall and antivirus in place and kept up to date, turning off Automatic Updates will do no harm (on the contrary, they could do more harm than good). Others may not agree with my policy, well, all I can say to them is that in 14 years I've never had reason to regret doing it.

I did uninstall the printer driver and re-install it - didn't help. Oddly enough I've run into several people that this has happened to - they all said just wait and it would come back - mine did the first time but now it is doing it again. The idea about the Windows update is good I might try that. I think however that it happens when I do the update for ITunes - that is when it seems to happen. I don't have an Apple computer but ITunes is an Apple program and I don't know if that does something to my Windows & program or not
