ups battery dying too quickly?

hey guys I bought a prolink pro700c about a year and a half ago, and now it doesn't hold any charge any more.
when power goes it out it just beep for about two seconds and that's it. Now the ups it self has two years warranty, but the battery only has six months warrenty.
so my first question is is this the expected lifetime of a ups battery?
and should I replace the battery by my self?(this would nullify the warranty of the ups)

  1. Batteries will usually last a few years, but depending on the environment it's used it, that could vary. UPC batteries are very easy to replace, so if you don't mind voiding your warranty, go for it. Otherwise I'd let Prolink replace it, though it will likely be much more expensive than doing it yourself.

If a ups is of good quality, bateries don't usually die till 3 or few more years. That seems odd. But as you are out of warranty I suggest you to buy a new and nice battery and replace it by yourself or ask some techie friend to do it for you.
It won't be difficult. And you don't have much choice to either replace it by yourself or ask the company to do it for you.
You can find Ups batteries in almost any battery store. Buy a nice battery, and if you replace it by yourself or even tell that shopkeeper to do it for you, it would be cheaper.
  3. The ups had problems from the beginning. It was constantly beeping at times which was very annoying so I had to take it back to the vendor for repairs.
If I install a new one is there a possibility of ruining the new battery?
  4. As long as you get a battery of the same size and specs it should be fine. I swapped out my USP batteries(it is 2 stacked, cheaper than a replacement from the company and it has worked out ok).

Sure, your ups was having a battery problems, so replacing that battery will solve the issue.
