I have an HP 500-023w desktop that I would really love to upgrade to a good graphics card to run world of warcraft very well. Any recommendations? Also, do I need to upgrade the power supply as well? If so, what would fit my computer?

Lets keep it to a little cheaper mate.

This is what you need and you have to make sure everything fits and is the right size, which I can confirm this.

Motherboard: ASRock H77M LGA 1155 Intel H77 $69.99; Same uATX (Micro ATX) form factor as before/same ram type (DDR3)/same socket and support for your CPU

PSU: Corsair CX500 500 Watt PSU 3-year warranty $49.99; Same pin as motherboard and right size for case also. Great as it has plenty of watt headroom in case of further upgrade later on.

GPU: MSI 7770GHz edition 1GB GDDR5 128-Bit...

above listed is a good option.

But for a similar price you can get a R9 270 which will blow the GTX 750Ti out of the water and crush it for a similar price. Tough it draws much more power, for gaming and performance it is much more worth it over the GTX 750Ti. Just get a 550W PSU and you'll be set.

well at that point he might as well get a 760 for an extra $20, The 750ti is a great card and will run any game you throw at it for a unbeatable price.

I guess we should ask what is your price range?

true, but some R9 270's cost close to the GTX 750Ti and your looking at the R9 270 being the better option by about $50

Ok, that's a lot of info to take in. First off, it is a Joshua. Price range I am looking at is roughly about $200, so those suggestions will definitely work. I just don't know much in this department about computers. So the PSU that you suggested would fit my computer with no problem?

The page on your PC says the PSU is ATX (normal) size - 150mm x 140mm x 86mm (5.9 x 5.5 x 3.4 inches). eg Corsair RM550 is 150 x 160 x 86mm. The Corsair 160 dimension is it's length. The width and height should be OK. But you'd have to measure inside your case to check that it'd fit.

Well I have no idea about the motherboard, I've never gone this far into a computer before. I'm pretty much new to all of this. Is there a PSU that works with the connectors I have or do I really have no other choice than to upgrade all 3?

I can give you a suggestion for all 3 that works, as i have done several times before. Just check that it's under ATX size, same socket as our CPU, and the will always have the same pin as those ATX PSU's. That's the basics for a motherboard upgrade. Make sure it has DDR3 Ram slots and 1 PCI-E X16 Slot for your graphics card and your set.

This is going to be a lot more work than I originally anticipated. If you have suggestions for all 3 that are compatible with my computer that are not getting too far out of hand on the price range. I would really appreciate the suggestions as I already have with everything else I have learned tonight.

GPU: MSI 7770GHz edition 1GB GDDR5 128-Bit $94.99; This card is nothing over the top, nor a useless weak card either. The 7770 is the best card out there for the price and was the first graphics card to break the 1000Mhz core clock record. It features GDDR5 memory and 128-bit memory interface, pretty good for the price. For a build like yours don't get just a good graphics card but make it a balanced system so that's why I recommend a 7770. It'll run WoW very well mind you and others also.

Total cost: $214.97

Overall, pretty good upgrade for the price with capability of upgrades in the future.

Ok, so I bought and replaced everything in my computer that was suggested above. Now when I try to turn my computer on, everything starts running (fans, lights, etc.) the only problem is I have no display so I can't see anything on a monitor. I'm a little baffled as to why everything suggested doesn't give me a monitor?
