Hello fellow geeks :)

I just upgraded my gamingrig with sabertooth r2 and fx8350, bought the coolermaster hyper tx3 cooler, with the cooler comes the coolermaster thermal paste.
My question is: is there any point chaning the thermal paste on my radeon 7970? Will i get a cooler gpu?

Sice i have to put thermal paste on my new cpu i tought it would be smart to do the same on my gpu while im at it :)

Thanks for reading

I am sorry. I thought you wanted to replace the thermal paste on the new cooler. Yes this is a good chance to replace the thermal paste on the GPU also. Even if you don't notice temperature change on idle it will protect it in cases of overheating. just make sure that you clean all remains of old thermal paste carefully. I prefer to use white thermal paste without any metal inside and I only put a very small drop on the center of the GPU.

Since the thermal paste is new then I see no reason to replace it. Coolmaster is a serious brand so their thermal paste should be of high quality. I sugest that you consider replacing it after 6 months of use.

So, don't use the kind with silver in it? I have some of that but was going to wait until I had the high quality silver kind. My card has had issues, I bought it used and the fan is extremely loud during games and gives me strange screen glitches when playing in 1080p. I have the original 7970 and it idles at 58 degrees. It is in my closet so I understand it getting hot under heavy load but it's very roomy and has no doors and still idles higher than it should when it's morning and cold in my room.
