Can a good processor boost games performance ?

I have a AMD FX4100 3.6GHZ and a RADEON HD 7850 1GB.im planning on to replace my CPU so tht i can play assasins creed 4 or BF4 on highest settings(i can play AC4 and BF4 at high settings)So if i change the processor then will i be able to play those games at the highest settings.if yes can u suggest me a good amd processor?

It is a balancing act.

You need enough video card and cpu to work together. If the cpu is too slow, they video card does not have enough work to keep it busy, but if the video card is too slow, the cpu will be waiting for it to be ready for more work.

Both of these are bottlenecks.

I do not think that a 7850 is being held back by the current cpu and the system seems to be fairly balanced.

Best to look up reviews of your game and video card combination to see what to expect. If review sites with a highly overclocked Intel cpu are not doing any better, your card is at its limit and a faster cpu will not help you.

Alternatively, you can also use something like MSI afterburner to monitor GPU usage. If it is high(90% plus) most of the...
