I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum for this, I figure its probably just a setting in Windows somewhere though.

I just finished building my HTPC/Server that I am using for FTP/Plex/Backups/BluRay Player/Torrents/BOINC and I'm having an issue.

The computer is connected via hdmi to my receiver, which is connected via hdmi to my TV. It works fine, but I would prefer to control the server from my main computer via remote desktop. So, I remote desktop in and do whatever I need to do... but the night before last I set up a [very large] file transfer (over USB) and closed remote desktop/turned off my computer. When I woke up in the morning, remote desktop'd in, the transfer was right where I left it... like it just went to sleep or something. The same thing happened last night when I set up a bunch of torrents to download overnight, came back in the morning and they hadn't progressed at all.

One weird thing is I believe BOINC is still crunching projects while everything else is "sleeping". I did check my power settings and it is set to never turn off display and never go to sleep.

Anyone have any ideas on what my issue is here?

Thanks for your help!

Solution
Your problem is, that processes initiated by a user stop, when the user logs of from the system. Only system services like BOINC continue. I'm too lazy to google the solution right now, but there are different solutions for it (file copy with no logged in user)

Well, that's disappointing. I've just ordered a mini wireless keyboard/mouse combo. Using that in place of remote desktop should eliminate any problems like that and it will make watching Plex or Blu Ray movies easier.
