So, I turned on my computer from shut down and i was greeted by the great BSOD. This is Windows 8.1 by the way. It said I should restart the computer and then said at the bottom of the screen I should look up "DCP_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION", whatever that is. So anyways, I restarted it, and everything seemed fine for a while, till strange things started happening. I first noticed this in Team Fortress 2, there was a ton of lag, I would move, stop in place and the audio would loop over and over again, till the lag stopped. This happened a lot. Then it started spreading to other games. Then Steam started crashing, videos in VLC would have terrible visual glitches and lag, my computer just feels generally slow, and random crashing is everywhere. If anyone at all can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it because this is seriously pissing the hell out of me. This computer is barely 2 months old!

There are two cases where you would get the symptoms you are talking about.

Your first is the Gpu or the Cpu is overheating.
Your cpu will down clock in speed to try to reduce the heat generated.
The cause a fan has stopped working, or the heat sink of the cpu is not seated correctly.

And the third if you have not cleaned inside the pc for over a year or two.

You have a build up of dust clogging the cooling fins of the coolers between the fan and the heat sink of the cpu cooler, and or Graphics card if one is fitted.

Remember they draw cold air in, but also lots of dust.

So it is time to open the case and inspect it for dust build up.

It even applies to laptops also.

Watch dog is no doubt saying it is overheating.

Use a temp monitor software program to find out how hot the cpu and Gpu are getting.

The other cause is that you have picked up a remote bit coin mining program that steals about 50% to 60% of your processor time.
If you go into task manager you will be able to locate if the case as the task will be using a high percent of cpu time.

You should scan your computer for malware in such a case if it turns out no devices have a high operating temp in C. to remove the malware.

Watchdog by the way is malware.

No watch dog is malware, it is trying to get you to buy the software to fix the problems.
It is causing the problems.

Because it infects your computer with the malware, and or viruses.
That are causing the problems.

It is an extorting program.
