I have a Core 2 duo e6750 @2.66Ghz, with Gigabyte G41M Combo Mobo. Currently DDR2 667Mhz 2GB Ram installed. According to specs by Gigabyte I can use the DDR3 1333 to upgrade. SInce I may be upgrading the cpu and motherboard in next 6 months or so, I was wondering if I could now buy the DDR3 1600 instead of 1333 and use it for my current setup. This way later on I will have faster chips in my newer setup. Question is will the DDR3 1600 chips work in my current setup?

Solution
Will have to raise the FSB to 1600 to run the sticks at 1600, this will also OC your CPU so may need to lower the CPU multiplier and raise the vCore, DRAM and NB voltages

Thanks but what puzzles me is that Gigabyte @ http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4213#sp says that the motherboard would support max at 1333(o/c). Are you saying that I can still make the DDR3 1600 work on my current setup? sorry if its a noob question as this is my first time DIY exercise.

Yes, the ram is rated to run UP TO 1600mhz. It can be downclocked to run at 1333mhz with no problem.
