Hi
I am installing a new motherboard on a moderately modified Lenovo H520s. I have modified it quite a lot.
I have swapped out the case to a Cooler Master CM-690 II Elite windowed, I have installed a new PSU, the new PSU is an XFX pro core edition 550w. And now I plan on installing a new motherboard into the machine.
Now I know already that to do this, I will have to re-install Windows 7 but I have a few questions to ask.

Should I format the drive? I watched a video on how to format the drive and re-install windows and it just said that I had to delete the partitions? link to video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZivYMA2qRA.

The motherboard I plan on upgrading to is the Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 AMD motherboard: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB...
And the CPU I plan on upgrading to is the AMD FX 8320: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP...
The RAM will be the Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY...

Will the stock AMD FX 8230 be enough to run at stock speeds? Bearing in mins I do have a foxconn heatsink in this case already.

Also, I don't plan on upgrading my HDD, I will backup some personal files on a USB and then should I just format the HDD from the windows 7 setup screen?

Any help is strongly appreciated!
Thanks.

In all likelihood you will need to buy a new OS unless you have the full retail version. OEM versions are tied to the motherboard used when it was installed and any significant upgrade will probably require a new OEM OS.

Well, I have a retail version 64 bit & people online are saying that I can use my OEM product key from my old PC.

That probably will work you'll just have to try it out, make sure the oem product key is for that windows version.

And re-activating it just might work too although you're changing a lot of parts,

I am just now sussing out what motherboard, RAM & CPU I should use. I am thinking of getting an 8320, or an i5 4570. I do plan on x-firing some AMD GPUs. My budget for these three items is around £200. Please use: http://www.overclockers.co.uk.
Thanks.
