1st Build POST Boot Fail

HI guys- my PC has everything installed and upon POST attempt it sends a beep code (which means RAM issue) and the RAM Led lights up, indicating a problem with that component. What should I do? I don't know how to clean RAM- should I return it? Also I'm paranoid and the CPU light is on for about 2 seconds then turns off- during building I was concerned I put too much pressure while installing the heatsink. Thanks for any help guys! I really appreciate it. Mobo is an Asus Z87-A

with the asus mb it normal for the cpu led light and fault led to blink then turn off that the mb post checking for errors. for the no post pull the gpu and one ram stick see if the fault led goes out and the onboard video works. if it does update the bios using the usb flashback port with the power off. if the mb wont post update the bios using usb flashback see if it will post. if no post check that the 4/8 pin power is connected and the cpu heat sink not on tight. check that the mb not shorting out. the last issue will be bent pin under the cpu on the mb you need a flashlight and a eyeglass to see if there bent.
