Hi guys

My hard drive seems to have dug itself a grave. System acts very choppy when booting and doesn't make it past the Windows loading screen. Won't boot up in safe mode, gets stuck on 'windows loading files' screen while my hard drive is going full pelt (busy light constantly on).

I was running an avg virus scan, it tried to remove a threat and now won't boot. Ran bio tests, everything else seems to be running fine.

System is just over 3 years old: Alienware Aurora: Intel core i7 860 2.8ghz, 8mb. 16gb of memory 1333mhz dual channel memory. 2 x ATI Radeon HD5670. Standard Alienware motherboard D07Awv03.

I dont think the drive is recoverable so writing to ask if it's simple enough to install a ssd. I have the relevant windows discs supplied by alienware. Looking at http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009NB8WTI/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=computers for the hard drive.

Any help is hugely appreciated before getting charged an arm and a leg by my local pc repair shop.

Kind regards
Richard

yes all you need to do is take the old hard drive out, stick the ssd in and boot from your windows cd's and install windows onto the new ssd then your done.

after that simply install your drivers from the internet to update your system
