2ms response vs 120 or 144 hz

So I want to upgrade to a monitor so I can see more FPS. My current monitor is 60 hz, so my question is what should I look for so my monitor will show more frames faster?
If anyone wants to recommend a 1080p monitor with a higher response/refresh rate that would be great. My budget is trying to stay under the $200 range.

Well response time definitely matters-mainly to core gamers. But faster refresh rate matters not if your PC does not produce it. But if you have a powerful enough system, then I'd recommend Asus monitors, they have a nice 2k monitor for ~550 dollars as well if you want better movie quality as well. And I believe Samsung is releasing a 4k monitor for $700 as well with 1ms response time.
