So Im collecting a bunch of old laptop lcds to make a video wall with and am trying to figure out how I can control 6-12 displays. I was thinking of getting an lcd controller for each screen that would give me a vga connection but then I have to find a video card or two (crossfire) that offers ALOT of outputs. These screens are 1280x800 so wouldnt be very intensive on the card. Another thought was to find a way to find an lcd controller for four screens with one vga so I would needa card with 1/4 less outputs. The plan is to be as cheep as possible... Any Ideas??

I have AMD cards with 6 outputs, but they are all Display Port.

I have not seen the other adapters for this type of thing because they are mostly for business use(Thus rather costly).

A board with lots of PCI-e ports would allow you to use multiple cards, but getting it all working may need custom software.

TripleHead2go was another device sold to allow one video port to control 3 screens. This was used by many user before things like AMD Eyefinity and Nvidia surround came out.

Im not too worried about the type of plug to much as many lcd controller boards offer different types of ports. The main thing is just finding a source with enough outputs.
