Hey guys, I'm worried about Turbo Boost for overclocking. Turboboost makes the frequency higher, so if I OC, will the turbo kick in occasionally for single-threaded workloads and move my OC too high? That would crash my computer.

no I don't think so. On my I5-3570k, I set the multiplier to x44 and it just boosted up to 4400MHz max. Keep speed step enabled so it down clocks when it can.

If I disable speed step are there any consequences besides a faster computer? I'm going to water cool it so will it still damage the CPU a lot to leave it max clock forever?
