windows 7 cannot format hard drive during install

hi, i have some trouble installing windows 7 to my computer, i cannot format my hard drive. error message says "the error code is 0x80070057" my biggest problem is my back up files is the partition of the hard drive, is there a way to copy my files in the other partition to external drive? please help i have some important files in that partition.

yes, you need a external drive; usb stick; etc; && you'll need a linux live cd/dvd/usb/etc
the linux live disc will give you one chance to take one last look at your files and if you learn to rtfm you may even be able to move them to another disk the external one that you already have that was plugged in during boot time
if yourz cramps for space and only have a few hundred megabytes try Damn Small Linux
DSL you don't have to buy the box, you'll just need the software.
