My moms old 2005 dell is breaking apart and her labtop is god awful, so I convinced her to let me build her one.

This will be mainly used for Photoshop and basic internet browsing, I plan to rip the old 8800 she had and throw it in here.

Would I be better getting an i3 and a 750ti instead? I know nothing about photoshop

that xeon has no integrated GPU, better go for cheaper i5, same 4 cores no HT
it is a revision of your build, with better price/performance parts selection

I guess he is right to say you should choose a CPU with internal graphics that's because you would get the same performance but with some extra benefits. If there, at any case, would be a problem with her card in some time in the future, that internal CPU graphics will have her back. I own a Xeon E3 1230 V3 @ 3.3 Ghz running with Inno3D gtx 770 Herculez 3x Ichill, on Asrock H87-Pro4. They are working amazingly fast! I never have any problem whilst gaming or working with Photoshop. You can't go wrong either way, but BETTER is always better than good. :

Keep up! :)

Hey I'm not a regular photoshop user, but how much of a difference do you think a xeon makes vs an i5?
