My wife unplugged her hard drive and plugged in our old computers hard drive to see if it worked. Now she plugged hers back in and her computer is now overheating when she watching videos, playing games and using skype. She did all those before at the same time and now just running one of them it over heats 60c +. It used to run at 44c with everything running. We assume it had something to do with plugging in the other hard drive.

Any suggestions on how to fix it or get it back to the way it was before she plugged in the other hard drive.

Its an Asus desktop with windows 8. The old hard drive was from a 3 year old Asus that had windows 7.

If need more info I can probably get it.

well if they are overheating in the first place under any circumstances then your system has inadequate cooling

besides that windows 8 is terrible for running background processes that use cpu power, and thus produce heat.

also 60c would not be considered overheating. anything above 80 is considered too hot for comfort, but anything below 80 is relatively normal

check cpu usage and see what is causing the increase in usage.
