I have an AMD Radeon HD 7990 and at times when I'm playing games, the fps would drop from being a fluent 60 to like 10 and under. In some occasions, CCC would become not responding and my game would crash. The temperatures are pretty good (76 degrees at full load), and so the gpu couldn't be overheating.

My specs are:
CPU: AMD FX-8350 (OC'ed to 4.2 Ghz)
MOBO: Gigabyte 970A-DS3P
RAM: 16gb ddr3 1600mhz
GPU: Sapphire radeon HD 7990
PSU: 800W
HDD: 1TB
Cooling: Asetek 570Lx (w/ 240mm radiator)
Monitor: Asus Vn247h 1920x1080 (60hz refresh rate)

Any Ideas to what could be causing this?

I am also not getting high Fps in general in comparison to the benchmarks on the internet

try reducing the overclock on your cpu. your motherboard is not overly made for overclocking the 8350 (just one suggestion)

another thing to do would be to run a driver sweep and completely delete all drivers, then update to the newest non beta drivers from amd for the 7790

I would check the temps on your cpu sounds like it could be throttling if its getting to hot

considering he has a 240ml cooler on his cpu, i SERIOUSLY doubt it has anything to do with overheating of any sort.

Thanks, it did improve my fps, but the drops occured after a bit. I found out I had an error 0xc0000001, winload.exe is missing or corrupted. Could this be the cause of such low fps?

{UPDATE}

I refreshed my copy of windows, (without deleting files) and installed AMD catalyst 13.12 (newest non-beta). Fps is still pretty horrible and there is no option for enabling or disabling crossfireX. It also says that my second gpu is disabled (in the hardware section)
