Hi all,

I am looking for suggestions on what to get for a HTPC (Win 7 Ultimate 32-bit, 4GB spare RAM laying around and an SSD with a 10k Raptor drive). I will NOT be gaming on this system. I already have a i7-2600K and a second i5-3570K system for that. It will just be purely for playing BLU-Ray, DVD's, Netflix etc.

It was really hard to find information on the G3220, but from what I'm reading, it seems maybe half the speed of Intel HD 4H00/4600 and uses the GT1 Integrated graphics. It seems the G3220 is fine for BLU-Ray and such, but does anyone know if it's capable of 4K Ultra?

Should I not worry about 4K since it may be another 4-5 years before we see it mainstream? I upgrade my computers every 3-4 years or so. But with my systems booting up in 8-9 seconds using SSDs, I doubt I'll need to upgrade anytime soon.

I read up that the Haswell socket 1150 CPUs should be able to do 4K decently OK. I guess it'll good to be future-proofed.

So what's the best combination?

1) G3220 for $56 (combo price) and use the integrated GT1 and hope for the best
2) G3220 for $56 + some $$65 (difference between both CPUs) dedicated video card, or some sub $100 dedicated video card? (I could always buy a used one from eBay for cheaper)
3) i3-4130 for $120 and use the integrated HD 4400

I'll be using the ECS H87H3-M(1.0) motherboard because it has the most bang for the buck. But I'm not sure if it's 4K capable so if I go 4K, I'll have to buy the GIGABYTE GA-H81M-HD3.

Am I over-thinking this? LOL

Thanks for all ya'll's help!

Solution
The i3 4130 gets my vote! I don't trust the Pentium's igpu to be able to handle all HD video playback smoothly, and I would avoid using a discrete video card because it is not necessary in a HTPC build.

I went with the i3-4330 because it was only $5 more on Amazon, and still $15 less than Newegg. And, it has Intel HD 4600, which is just marginally better, but still better. I love Newegg, but too bad Newegg doesn't do price match. It will be their undoing.
