Dota 2 causing my computer to lag and crash?

So, I have been playing Dota 2 for the last few months with 0 problems. However, within the last few days, my computer has locked up for short periods and even crashed at seemingly random times while playing. I don't know what is causing this, and like I said, it has only just started. When my computer locks up, I get the last sound playing over and over until it unfreezes. When it crashes, the same thing happens, but my entire screen fragments, and it never recovers. I am concerned about this for a couple reasons: I keep having to hard reset my computer, which I know is terrible for it, and I keep getting abandons, because my computer takes longer than 5 mins to restart and relaunch Dota 2.

The specs of my computer are as follows:

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
8 gigs of RAM
CPU: AMD Phenom(tm) II X6 1100T Processor 3.30 GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon 7850 HD

Any tips/suggestions? I already verified the local files for Dota 2.

Haven't had a problem with overheating in the past, even with much more demanding games. I know that my CPU does get a bit warm, but I always thought that there would at least be a bit of throttling before it just full-out crashed. Not sure of my exact temps, but while simply browsing the internet with a few programs open in the background, my CPU is sitting at 51C, and my GPU at 35C. I honestly don't know good temps for these things. Is that good? Bad?

No, I have not changed my driver in a while. I will try reinstalling Dota, and hope that fixes it.

So, I checked my temps, and it's definitely not that. While in-game, my CPU is 55-58c~, and my GPU is mid-40cs. However, recently, my computer has started having problems outside of the game as well. Randomly locking up for short periods, being much more slow than usual. Last night when I shut down, it said shutting down, shut off all my audio/visuals, but never actually turned off, so I had to do a hard reset.

So, it's not just Dota 2, now. My computer has become increasingly slow the last few days, and has now done the screen fragmentation with crash in other games now. I'm worried that it's just my computer dying. :(
