Help with Display Port and HDMI

Hi All.
I have hit a brick wall and I need some help.
I have a docking station with only Display Port (DVI & VGA too of course). No HDMI. So I bought a Displayport to HDMI converter Cable, and HDMI Cable (of course). From there it goes to 3 port HDMI Switch. I want to switch between my PC and my Laptop. While docked and switched to my laptop, nothing will display on my Monitor. Switching to PC the monitor displays the PC perfectly. When I bypass the docking station with my laptop and go HDMI into my Monitor everything works perfectly and displays the laptop on the monitor. So somehow the combination of the Display Port, converter Cable, and Switch just isn't working. I have no idea how this could happen. I keep going back and forth because the Switch shouldn't know or care since the cable should convert form Displayport to HDMI, and it is just an HDMI Switch. But if I bypass the switch and go Docked, Display Port to HDMI and HDMI cable directly into my Monitor this works as well. The Monitor has HDMI (I'm not using any other converters) and VGA... no DVI (Plus I want Audio because the Monitor has decent speakers). Has anyone heard of this before? Any ideas? Windows? The Switch? Display Port?
Thanks in Advance.

Not sure.
Bypass the docking station and just run the two computer's into the switch using HDMI and see if that works. If it does then the switch works when only regular HDMI is being used.

The DisplayPort adapter appears to work on its own so it's not the problem (directly).

So if the HDMI switch works on its own, and Displayport...
My advice is avoid the docking station completely, or at least use only some of its functionality and run the HDMI cable straight from the laptop to the HDMI switch.

If your HDMI Switch isn't a simple, mechanical switch, and has an auto-sensing mechanism for example it may be having issues with the Active Displayport adapter.

Thanks for the help/reply. So you think the Switch is the culprit?

So if the HDMI switch works on its own, and Displayport adapter works on its own, but they don't work together then I feel it's an issue with the HDMI switch not quite understanding what the Displayport Adapter is saying.
