Pretty much as the title says:
I'm thinking of purchasing the EVGA GTX780Ti Classified / ACX Cooler for roughly $760.00, is this too much or unnecessary if I'm only playing on a single 1080p HDTV?
The games I plan on playing are general common games:
Skyrim (lightweight)
BF4 (semi lightweight)
The Elder Scrolls Online
Watch_Dogs
The Division (If released for PC)
Mirrors Edge (if released for PC)
X3 Trilogy (X3, X3: TC, X3: AP)
X4 (perhaps)
Star Citizen
BF5 (when it comes out)
Various games of this type and unparallelled games that may come out in the future that isn't announced yet.
------------------------
If the GTX 780Ti is too beefy for this should I just get a lower end card and wait for the need to upgrade the card at another date? (Also if need be I can SLI the cards up to 4 GPU's until I need a massive upgrade).
The other cards I were looking into were the GTX 770, GTX 770 Classified w/ Hydro Cooler, and standard GTX 780 w/ Hydro Cooler.

GTX 780 SC with ACX cooler will play all those games very well at 1080p (no idea about BF5 or star citizen though). Only a couple of titles will really stretch the GTX 780 to the point where you would benefit from a 780 Ti, one of those being Crysis 3.
I would personally go for a GTX 780 now then grab another one in a year or so. EVGA or Gigabyte would be excellent choices and should allow for plenty of overclocking.

That is kind of what I was thinking... Perhaps the 780Ti is just too much. The GTX 780 is aimed at 4K monitors which I probably won't get for around 10 years, and by the time 10 years is up and I get a 4K anything, the GTX 780 would be so old and worthless by the time I get the rest of the hardware to make it truly relevant.
I also won't be playing Crysis games (I've played them on the Xbox 360 and they're not that great of games). I've also played both Metro games and I don't like either of them either, so the two heaviest games of the generation I don't even like.

I recently go the 770 and love I and highly recommend it. !ts 150 cheaper and i can still play games on max. plus in several years when i can't ill just SLI. i figured it was the most cost effective/ future proof option. by the time 2 770 cant handle it it i will be well past due for a upgrade anyway. Just some food for though

Even more reason to get a GTX 780. If you take a look at this chart you can see that a GTX 780 running at over 1Ghz is only a fraction below a 780 Ti at stock. The gigabyte 780 Ghz is an excellent card with a very nice looking Ghz Edition backplate if you're into that kind of thing. Review link below

A GTX 780 is aimed at 1440p not 4K, it does not have enough power or Vram for gaming at 4K.

Yep... If I were to get the GTX 770, I'd try to get the GTX 770 Classified Hydro Cool. (I've recently fallen inlove with the Hydro cool since it comes with a block on it preinstalled. But that is around 200 dollars cheaper. The 770 is around 350 SC, the Classified w/ Hydro Cool is around 600 dollars, and the 780Ti is around 760 dollars.
