I updated my Toshiba NB205-N210 Netbook from XP to Vista and now the Realtek RTL8101 is not working properly so I can't get on

Go to windows update and check for drivers and if not working try a driver updater software like slim drivers . download : http://download.cnet.com/SlimDrivers-Free/3000-18513_4-75279940.html?part=dl-0

Problem is I can't get online with that machine because of the Realtek problem. Even if I plug it into the Ethernet ports, it refuses to go online. I see some downloadable updated versions of Realtek for Vista using another machine but it won't help the machine I need to be fixed. Looks like I have a very expensive paperweight now.....
