I have this problem where my mouse cursor gets stuck of the right side of the screen. I have to shake it to get it back. Anyone know what causes this or even better how to fix it? its not the end of the world just really annoying. My OS is ubuntu 12.04

Plenty of Linux people out here. However, the problem you describe is one that I suspect very few, if any, of the regulars here have seen, thus the lack of response. You also didn't give much time before bumping your post (2.5hr). This isn't an instant messaging service, it takes time for your posting to be read by a sufficient number of people.

Just a gentle reminder that thread bumping is frowned upon here. Please do not do it (especially after only 2.5 hours).

Gotta admit this is a new one on me.
what is your computer?
Is it possible that your screen resolution is off and the cursor is actually leaving the screen?
Disappears or gets stuck? You've said both.

this is on my old laptop it's dv6700. it goes off the screen on the right and gets stuck over there. if i pll the mouse it wont come back but if i shake the mouse its like it shakes it loose... its not a resolution issue. this started a few days ago when I dusted it off and got her purring again so the old lady could use it for school. something to do with the update.

It really sounds more like the mouse itself is the problem. Before doing anything else I'd clean the mouse.

Then, if that didn't get it I'd download a copy of Ubuntu 13.10 just to check it out on a dvd or flash. If that is the problem wait until the 17th when 14.04 is released, that's another long term support.

OHHH no its not that.... i just figured it out it was running in dual screen. :/  She was watching movies the other day with it hooked up to the tv. it just didn't revert back to single screen. And here i am, screwing around it terminal all morning... Well, thx for the help any way, I appreciate it.

EDIT: That's what happens when you try and be productive before your coffee :p
