Hello, iv found two GPUs that are both a good price (for here).

I can get a EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti Super-clocked ACX 3GB for $700 (normally $870)

or a XFX R9 290x Black Edition for $620 (normally $730)

Is the 780ti worth the extra $80?

Im in Australia, the doller is worth about 9-10% less than the US (The prices here are just bad)

More about : 290x 780ti

Hi,
The GTX 780Ti is little bit better than the R9 290X. The XFX r9 290X that you are looking at i believe it is reference design, it has poor cooling.
You can find non reference Gigabyte one for $640

Btw the cheapest GTX 780Ti i could find was $835 (OMG)

dont buy evga, fans can only go down to 40% or something, they are loud even under no load.

The GTX Titan is more of a workstation GPU, it can be used for games, but that is not it's primary job. It does better in other applications and software, while the GTX 780Ti is for pure gaming.

I don`t want to start a war around here about companies but please restrain yourself from making false statements, i have a EVGA GTX760 and the card is dead silent in idle, my mechanical harddrives make more noise than the video card.

As for the topic, both cards, if non reference (goes both ways for AMD and Nvidia) you get what you pay for, want more performance pull out more cash from your pocket and get the 780Ti. If you can accept 5-10 less fps but have more cash in your pockets go for the 290x (but don`t get reference design).

If prices are equal then go for the 780Ti.

r9 290 has a little more power but gtx 780ti is more cool and silent also on r9 290 you get powertune so good non-reference one or 780ti

For eyefinity and multi monitor setups 290x. For best performance on a single monitor 780ti.

Yep im only doing one screen, so i think ill go with the 780ti. It seems to be at the top of most bench marks.
