Hi all,

Im planning to purchase a new rig built around fx-6300 as its heart. But I actually dont like the bulkiness of ATX mobos.
1.] But since Im investing considerable amount in the CPU so I'd like the mobo be good enough so as to get max juice(Over-Clocking) out of the CPU, when time needs.
2.] Also Im not a heavy game person, so the SLI thing doesnt matter for me. Im good with single PCI-E-2 slot.
3.] Of course it should be able to stock 8-to-16 GB ram.
4.] I dont want to go overboard spending too much on the mobo, Im just concerned about getting the max power out of this cpu, thats it. No unnecessary bells and whistles for me.

Thanks a lot for your precious time.

Hi,
There aren't any good mATX motherboard for the newer Vishera/Piledriver CPUs like the FX 4300, FX6300 and FX8300 series. They are labeled as AM3+ motherboards but they use old 760G chipset which is not very good for AMD X3XX series.
There is much better mATX support for Intel CPUs

Well thanks maurelie,
If thats the case then I think also start considering ATX mobos. Which ATX do you think is sufficeitn enough to get max from fx-6300 and also uses the new chipset (which I guess is 990FX maybe )?

It depends on your budget. 970chipset can be found at $60-$100, while the 990chipset starts form $110 and up
If you want mild overclocking, get the Asus M5A97 R2.0 or Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P both of them $90
If you want better overclocking and SLI/Crossfire support, get Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 or Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 both around $120
And the ultimate in 990chipset is Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 at $180
