i am building a pc with an Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 AMD Socket AM3+ Motherboard, a corsair 500w psu , an amd fx 8320 and 8 gb of vengeance ram , will the psu support all of this?, can it overclock? also what gpu should i get to go with the cpu

Solution

A CX 500 should be fine to power the setup including the gpu. But don't overclock the cpu.

The PSU will work, but you will be limited with the GPU. For that build, I would not go with anything over 100W, which is very limiting. You might as well get a better PSU to give yourself some leg room.

ok i probably should have mentioned this before, i allready have a corsair builders series 500w psu , and the before mentioned , long named motherboard , the things i can change are the cpu and gpu , i'm wanting to play gta5 and bf4 i saw a youtube video where someone was playing bf4 with an amd fx 6300 and an msi r9 270 on a corsair 500w psu but it's youtube and it could be fake does anyone think that that cpu and gpu work well together or are there any other suggestions on what cpu and gpu to get

Firstly, the motherboard you have doesn't really have enough power phase for overclocking. So no overclocking is allowed.
Secondly, the motherboard you chosen doesn't have a good VRM cooling so you may find cpu throttling to occur.
However, it might be doable on stock speeds but i would recommend you to buy a 990FX motherboard in the near future.
Lastly, i still need a budget of what you have to spend on the gpu. Also give me the model of the power supply, Is it in the CX series, CS series etc...

For advice on the motherboard upgrades in the future:
Good motherboards should have good VRM's, 6+2 power phases up to 12+2, overheat protection, extensive and easy to use bios controls. With adequate cooling the CPU should reach 4.8 to 5.0GHz or better
ASROCK
Fatal1ty 990FX Professional
990FX Extreme9
ASUS
M5A99FX PRO R2
SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0
CROSSHAIR V FORMULA
CROSSHAIR V FORMULA Z

Competent motherboards should also have good VRM's, 6+2 power phases or better, overheat protection, extensive and easy to use bios controls. With adequate cooling the CPU should reach 4.5 to 4.8GHz or better
ASROCK
990FX Extreme4
ASUS
M5A97 EVO R2
M5A99X EVO R2

Motherboards to avoid are likely to have 4+1 phase power, underdesigned VRM spec, or they lack essential bios controls. With adequate cooling the CPU may reach 4.2GHz but could also throttle at under 4.0GHz with load.
ASROCK
990FX Extreme3
All 970 chipset models
ASUS
M5A97 LE R2

Solution

If you cannot change the motherboard, a FX 6300. But no overclocking.
Both cpu will not bottleneck a R9 270.However, anything higher than R9 270x the FX 6300 will become a bottleneck depending on the games.
