Im planning on building a system in the next week or two and ive been back and forth about a lot of parts and recently i changed my mind and have been wanting to go with this one
MSI
760GMA-P34(FX) its a micro atx build im doing and it was the only one i could find that had usb 3 headers sata 6gb and suitable ram compatibility. also it has to work with the fx 8320.
anyway now im worried that the hypertransport speed might bottleneck my cpu or something the mobo i was previously going with had a higher transfer rate and im not sure how much a difference this could actually make. would be grateful for some advice, thanks.

Yes, the 760 board doesn't have the power delivery available to power the 8320. Get at least a 970 board. ASRock and ASUS both make a 970 board for aound $70-$75, but won't be mATX. There really isn't any 'good' mATX option for Vishera. The FX-4300 would be the most I would put on a board like that.

I just don't see an 8 core CPU being stressed enough to ever create a problem. That is unless you're running Prime95 all day or something. I guess i t depends on what the PC will be used for. What might that be, TartanSpartan01?

You are completely missing what I'm saying. The 8320 is a great CPU, and will not be stressed. I am saying the motherboard, with its limited power delivery system and poor cooling, will be overly stressed by the CPU. This has nothing to do with gaming performance or compute performance, but everything to do with stability and longevity.

Yes, that motherboard will fully support and run an 8320. It (motherboard) will, however, be stressed and either fail to deliver enough power, or burn out prematurely.

No, I'm not missing what you're saying. The CPU isn't going to be drawing all of that power if it isn't being used to its full extent. I never said a thing about performance.

Although looking more into it, I'm starting to think getting a different board would be a better option. I don't see it being an issue but I guess better safe than sorry.

thanks for the replies guys its my first build so im getting a little nervous at the thought of getting this wrong but im going to be using the pc for gaming, burning discs, streaming hulu etc and would like to be able to get by the next few years with it, gaming and multi tasking are key for me, as it is going to be partially a htpc aswell as having to take care of all the personal use etc. this whole micro atx motherboard problem is giving me a headache i thought/hoped that board would be sufficient, if its not what do guys recommend? i was lookin at the fx 6300 and perhaps overclocking it on a better board, and as i was unable to overclock the 8320 with that other board do you think the 6300 could be overclocked enough to compete with the 8320? or should i be looking at intel? i just cant seem to find anything at intel thats a suitable price and performance. i should also mention when i say for gaming i dont need every game to run ultra at 60fps but i want there to be a comfortable margin so that even when the likes of Arkham Knight are released i wont go from ultra settings to low settings just to keep up.
Thanks again the all of you have been very helpful to me.
