Non-reference design coolers are sometimes more effective.
For example, the MSI Twin frozer cooling you get in the 770OC gaming edition is acually cooler than a refference design card, along with costing less.
lol sorry i was being facetious. im really just looking for any induction style GPU. i found a msi one for 320 although it's really ugly. I found a nvidia made one at best buy but the wanted 370 for it...

You'd normally want your exhaust to be on top, since that's where the Hot air lingers.
But there's no reason you can't try this, and if you do, write a thread about the differences.
I'd be interested to know.
