Windows boots so slowly. Still

I've got a Samsung Evo SSD boot drive, while this is faster than the mechanical drive I was using before, it's still slow.

Almost a minute from completely off (hybrid and non-hybrid) to be logged in. I hear other people are able to get 20 second boot times when mine's taking twice as long. What's the deal?

And why does Fast Start generate a load of E41s in the Event Log (if I turn off hybrid shutdown the E41s stop)

when you installed the SSD... did you go into bios and change the channel mode to AHCI? if you're computer is older, the bios is probably set to IDE by default. I've even seen new mobos (the cheap $50 ones) where the bios comes set to IDE by default.

anything on a sata connection should be set to AHCI, especially SSD's. They are much slower without it.

My boot times on my samsung evo are like 20 seconds...

the bad news for you mate, if you are set to IDE in bios... i believe when you change it to AHCI you're going to have to reformat your SSD and reinstall windows etc. That's not fun :/

It was already in AHCI. I think defaults there for all my drives. Software on the computer reports AHCI is on and SATA is enabled. But still, takes it sweet time to get in to Windows. First ever time I booted it did do it really quickly, but since then (2 days later) it's right down to 50 seconds whether or not fast start is on

once Windows takes over (so after BIOS and just when the BIOS is handing over to the OS), mostly on the welcome screen (fast start off). Fast Start on is a little quicker, but the last test took about 45 seconds. The very first time I booted after clean install it was really quick, that was 2 days ago

I was doing this gradually with my previous install of 8. However, fast start does get it up and running in about half a minute, only it generates those E41 error codes. According to MS fast start is not coded by them, but a 3rd party, so I'd have to find them to fix that. Scary times. Scared to shut it down now, cause I might not get back in
