when should i upgrade my i7 2700k

Solution
Your current motherboard may not be compatible with the latest 4th generation Intel processors, such as Haswell. So if you're looking to upgrade the CPU to a Haswell, you may need to a new motherboard too. However the i7-2700k is still a great processor and is at the top of the high-end benchmark charts, and there is no need to upgrade yet, unless you require more power.

Most motherboards which support the i7-2700k also support the i7-3770k (check your CPU support list just in case); so you could upgrade to one of those, which provides a little more power. But again IMO it's not worth upgrade to, as it'll only provide a little more power and you'll be spending more cash on it.

If you desire a more recent Haswell processor, again you...

All the best.
