Best "wireless" networking option for gaming - powerline networking?

Hi everybody,

I'm looking for ways to improve my internet connection to provide more stability and hopefully faster connection speeds. I have DSL and pay for "15 mbps" even though I'm only usually getting around 12.5. The modem and router are downstairs and my computer is upstairs. Currently, I use my laptop as a wireless network adapter for my desktop connected via ethernet cable and connect to the network wirelessly. However, this has gotten worse over time and now I'm seeing starting to see my latency spike between 350ms-750ms, which is causing noticeable lagging in game.

I was looking for options to improve performance since, as I understand it, wireless is definitely not ideal for gaming (signal strength, interference, etc). I do not want to route an ethernet cable upstairs, and I do not want to move the modem to the computer.

I quickly stumbled upon powerline networking and wondered if it would be a more viable option than what I have now. My house is 23 years old and I don't know if the electrical wiring age has anything to do with viability, or if powerline networking will support this speed. Will powerline networking provide a faster/more stable connection than my current wifi? If not, is there a more suitable option that will help improve my desktop's network connection? Any information would be a huge help.

Thanks!

for me you will have a better signal from the wi-fi since a part of it will transit from the power line so the receiver will be near the system ,but the best one would be wired .

Will I get more interference through using electrical lines and power networking or using my laptop as a network adapter for the wifi?

your house use coper wire so signal will be cary the same way as a rj 45 one you should not have more interfernce then the wireless and the signal will be faster check this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9oIuy_j5cmk and this one from ncix http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3c1SjEpUVcM
