I have an old i3 desktop computer with a Nvidia GT 240 512MB that I was playing some games with. Couple of days ago my GPU was broken and I'm having someone put in a slightly upgraded card for me for cheap. I'm not familiar with the naming schemes that Nvidia uses for their cards but could someone tell me if the card that is being replaced is better than the one that I had?

He's replacing it with Nvidia GT 630 either 1 gig or 2. He says it's better than the card I have. Just wondering what your thoughts are on this GPU only...will it perform a lot better than my previous card?

yes a 630 is much better than a 240. it's still a very low end card, but it is better.

for reference, on newegg a 2gb 630 costs $70 new. the installation time involved is 10 minutes tops. just so you dont get ripped off if it's a local shop charing you labor
