Hello just wondering why this card is performing so poorly, I'm trying to revive a Pentium 4 overclocked to 3.5ghz and has 2 gb of ram at 400mhz, The card was only $40 so I figured why not try to bring this machine up to date, the problem was it only had regular pci slots not pci-e which after some research I found this card which is a pci version of the regular gt 610.

I expected it to not perform optimally do to old hardware but it's beyond poor, world of warcraft which is a pretty dated game will only pull a max of around 30 fps with all settings dropped to their lowest. where is the bottleneck coming from the pci bus or processor, the processor runs near 100% while playing games but even when it dips the fps doesn't jump up so is the bottleneck between the cpu and gpu or is the gpu just poor for gaming?

Fortunately is plays hd videos fine so it will be good as a media center if nothing else.

Games like world of Warcraft run better on processors that have better single core performance. The pentium 4 isn't terrible but it is rather old and isn't up to speed for most games. The pentium 4 isn't all that great for wow. You also only have 2 gigs of ram. Wow does recommend 4 gigs of ram to have an optimal gaming experience. the 610 is an alright card but like most other video cards around that price point it is just that cheap. So the performance that you get out of it is also cheap. I would just return the video card if you can and build something like a core i3 based system for $400 dollars if you have the money for the optimal experience while playing wow
