We're in the middle of consolidating homes right now. My in-law's house has a Motorola ExtremeSURF 6580 cable modem/wireless access point; to say that it sucks would be paying it a compliment. I've almost always dealt with DSL so I'm not familiar with cable modems at all. Any suggestions to replace this connection dropping beast are appreciated!
Now, onto my nextI prefer a wired network but we're moving to a house where the room where our home office/gaming den will be doesn't have a network drop. I'm not sure we'll get permission to run cable to the office.
I've been living under a rock and only just discovered Powerline adapters as an alternative to wired networking. Hubby plays a lot of twitch games and if Powerline isn't going to be a reliable connection, I'd really rather avoid it and whatever gamer rage may follow. It's a newer house, built in 2002 so theoretically, the wiring should be fine. Hubby's not convinced and is concerned that the Powerline adapters may screw with the electricity or otherwise just be crap.
Any input would be great!
